Bottomlands Conservancy’ is a non-profit organization based in Somerset County PA. Our mission is to further the protection, enhancement, conservation and preservation of environmental resources. We strive to fulfill this purpose by: owning and conserving land for public benefit and use; enhancing wildlife habitat based on BMP’s set forth by governing agencies and other scientific based wildlife organizations; implementing, owning, operating and maintaining AMD facilities to clean and protect our waterways; providing education and consultation to interested parties on the enhancement, conservation, and preservation of our environmental resources.
We own and operate four passive acid mine drainage treatment facilities. We also own property that houses two other treatment systems operated by the PA DEP. We are committed to continuing the legacy of these sites as well as looking for future opportunities to add more treatment systems across SW PA. See our AMD page for more info.
All of our properties are in conservation easements. This means they will never be developed and will always remain wild areas. They are all open to the public for recreation activities such as hunting, trapping, fishing and hiking. See our Properties page for more info.
